Check the official source for current information.<\/p>\n<p>We recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October, which follows on the heels of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September, to acknowledge how VA oncologists make a huge impact across the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Our oncologists play a critical role in providing access to the latest technology and approaches to individualized care, and with the support of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.va.gov\/\" rel=\"noopener\">National Oncology Program<\/a> (NOP), we\u2019re providing Veterans access to top-rated physicians and cancer care specialists nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>For those Veterans who don\u2019t live near a VA facility with cancer specialists, we\u2019ve dedicated resources to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.va.gov\/oncology-services-and-tools.html\" rel=\"noopener\">National TeleOncology service<\/a> (NTO), which allows cancer care providers to reach Veterans regardless of where they\u2019re located.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn recent years, we\u2019ve built an infrastructure at VA that provides comprehensive support to Veterans with cancer,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/news.va.gov\/134302\/veterans-receive-treatments-for-prostate-cancer\/\">Dr. Matthew Rettig<\/a>, chief of hematology-oncology at Greater Los Angeles VA. \u201cThrough VA\u2019s National TeleOncology programs and virtual clinical trials, Veterans nationwide can access specialized expertise and therapies, regardless of their location.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With your expertise, you can be part of this fight.
