Check the official source for current information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WASHINGTON<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The Department of Veterans Affairs approved $1.2 billion in VA infrastructure improvements in the third quarter of fiscal year 2026, part of a record $4.8 billion in non-recurring maintenance funds VA will deploy this year.<\/p>\n<p>VA\u2019s FY 2026 $4.8 billion NRM budget is the largest in the department\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>The funds will be used by VA medical facilities for significant maintenance, replacements and upgrades needed to maintain and improve operational capability and healthcare delivery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder President Trump, VA is making historic improvements in healthcare accessibility, customer service and convenience,\u201d said\u00a0<strong>VA Secretary Doug Collins<\/strong>. \u201cThese record-breaking investments will enable us to continue building on that progress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The list of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/department.va.gov\/vha\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/65\/2026\/07\/VHA-NRM-Project-Awards-FY2026-Q3.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\">third quarter projects\u00a0<\/a>can be found here.<\/p>\n<p>Of the total $4.8 billion committed for FY 2026, VA has now obligated $2.3 billion through the third quarter. That obligation of funds in the third quarter will be used for:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$915M to repair and upgrade outdated infrastructure systems in medical facilities.<\/li>\n<li>$229M for maintenance and modernization of facility infrastructure to support future electronic health record system updates.<\/li>\n<li>$11M for major building upgrades like elevators, electrical systems, and boiler plants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These investments are just one of many ways the Trump Administration is making VA\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/department.va.gov\/veteransfirst\/\" rel=\"noopener\">work better for Veterans<\/a>. For example, VA has:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enrolled <a href=\"https:\/\/news.va.gov\/press-room\/va-welcomes-200000-new-healthcare-enrollees-so-far-in-2026\/\">more than\u00a0200,000 new Veterans<\/a> in VA healthcare\u00a0in 2026.<\/li>\n<li>Opened 38 new VA health care facilities\u00a0since Jan. 20, 2025, expanding healthcare access for Veterans around the country.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/department.va.gov\/veteransfirst\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Reduced the backlog of Veterans waiting for VA benefits by 74% since Jan. 20, 2025<\/a>, after it increased 24% during the Biden Administration.<\/li>\n<li>Completed 82,083,918 direct care appointments in FY 2025, up 4.1% from FY 2024.<\/li>\n<li>Completed 59,989,662 community care appointments, up 12% from FY2024.<\/li>\n<li>Offered Veterans\u00a0more than 3 million appointments outside of normal operating hours, giving Veterans more\u00a0timely\u00a0and convenient options for care.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/department.va.gov\/veteransfirst\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Permanently housed 51,936 homeless Veterans\u00a0<\/a>across the country in FY 2025, the highest total in seven years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<p class=\"tni-attribution\">Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/news.va.gov\/press-room\/va-announces-1-2b-in-infrastructure-improvements-in-third-quarter-of-fy-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs<\/a>.
