Check the official source for current information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WASHINGTON<\/strong> \u2014 The Department of Veterans Affairs today announced it will realign an additional $800 million this fiscal year as part of the Veterans Health Administration\u2019s Non-Recurring Maintenance program, which makes infrastructure improvements to health care facilities to ensure safe and effective patient care.<\/p>\n<p>The extra funding means more resources to repair and update aging VA facilities and technology.<\/p>\n<p>The extra money will be spent on a variety of improvement projects at various VA health care facilities, including:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Boiler and chiller systems<\/li>\n<li>Electric infrastructure improvements<\/li>\n<li>Elevators<\/li>\n<li>Heating ventilation and air conditioner systems<\/li>\n<li>Sprinklers and fire alarms<\/li>\n<li>Renovation of clinical\/support spaces<\/li>\n<li>Utility system upgrades<\/li>\n<li>Medical equipment sites<\/li>\n<li>Electronic Health Record Modernization infrastructure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThis is another step forward in our efforts to make VA work better for the Veterans, families, caregivers and survivors we are charged with serving,\u201d said <strong>VA Secretary Doug Collins.<\/strong> \u201cImproved facilities, equipment and infrastructure help improve care for Veterans, and these additional funds will enable VA to achieve that goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The additional funds will come from savings gleaned from various VHA reform efforts.
